“One day I wrote her name upon the strand, but came the waves and washed it away…” - Edmund Spencer

Rocky Ledge

A more abstract image with a deep turquoise colour palette, Rocky Ledge was completed in situ at the cliff edge, in my favourite spot on the Alt Emporda, Spain.

“Then on the shore of the wide world I stand alone, and think, ‘till love and fame to nothingness do sink.”  - John Keats: (When I have fears - sonnet 1818)

Table Mountain, view from Bloubergstrand

Look closely to see Cape town depicted loosely, in line form, at the base of this iconic mountain. Those familiar with the South African location will doubtless recognise this seaview from “Blouberg”; The curves in the foreground are intended to create movement through the sea grass on the left and up into the breaking surf, carrying the viewer’s eye up and around the image. The famous sandstone formation has Devil’s peak to the left and Lion’s Head on the right.

Unveils with gorgeous sun, and deep clear blue. But ocean riots still; in ponderous play Thousands of heavy surges plunge away, Dazzling with snow-white foam, or swiftly woos Iris to paint all brightly tinted hues.
